With repairs successfully completed, we enjoyed sundowners (a.k.a. cocktails) and watched the sunset over Elochman Marina in Cathlamet, WA.
Got under way early the next morning (Friday, Sept. 4, 2015) for the trip downriver to Astoria, OR. Fog on the river, but it cleared by the time we got to Astoria.
Took a slip at the West End Mooring Basin, and were lucky enough to score two tickets to the evening show of “Shanghaied in Astoria!” If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. It is always runs the last week in August through the first week or so of September. In it’s 31st year, it is a locally produced play where audience participation is strongly encouraged – including the throwing of popcorn. It is always a good time!
And what visit to Astoria would be complete without a trip to our favorite Astoria watering hole, Mary Todd’s Workers Tavern. No tourists here – just locals. Friday night is prime rib night – better split it with somebody – drinks are strong and it is within walking distance of the marina and theater! We once lost a teapot here…
How fun. Love the sunset shot in Cathlamet. Just beautiful! Glad things are back to good working order. Keep in touch with us landlovers. Love hearing from you all.
